21 year old me: late nights, dancing, the cheapest wine coolers, pizza. Lots of boy talk. Too much laughter and many ' Woo hoo's'
30 year old me: early nights, quality talk about life and faith, good cheese, great wine. Communal crying, laughter about the communal crying and many 'You've got this' type statements.
Yesterday, I had one of the BEST girl's nights I have had in a long time.
Just three of us.
It was a Wednesday, we all had work the next day and I was in bed by 10:30pm.
But all I could think about was this.
SALAD AND WATER. No wine. No cheese. No perfect mojito with an umbrella. Just salad and water.
And it was enough. Because the conversation satisfied the hunger.
I am so thankful for women in my world that satisfy my hunger to be heard, that hold my truth in their hands and gently lay it at my feet. I am so thankful for women in my world that trust me not to eat my words but share with them. I am so thankful for women that invite me to the table and always save a seat for me. I am so thankful for women that need but only salad and water to indulge in real conversation. I am so thankful for women in my life that can equally and confidently be both the hostess and the hosted.
Let's all raise our glasses... to just a little more hydration in our lives!
